We're pleased to announce that from hundreds of entries submitted into a juried competition chaired by the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) and Bernhardt Design, along with 9 other emerging designers, we've been chosen to exhibit at ICFF Studio 2014a platform to match selected emerging designers and their prototype products with potential manufacturers.

The event will mark the North American debut of our (Bent) DOT stool which pays homage to mid-century modernist icon, Arne Jacobsen's DOT stool (1954) while incorporating design elements inspired by present-day design icon, Apple.

ICFF takes place between May 17-20, 2014 in New York City at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. For more information on the event, click here

Alongside our appearance at the upcoming Interior Design Show, we've also teamed up with the good folks at L'Ouvrier Kitchenbar to participate in Do Design 2014; a temporary gallery that showcases the work of contemporary designers presented in diverse storefronts along trendy Dundas Street West.

Our installation, titled #ruglove, consists of 318 artificial daisies snap-fastened onto our Daisy Garden Rug in the form of a heart. Visitors are encouraged to take a selfie (or maybe one with someone you love?) and post to social media #ruglove

#ruglove can be found in the L'Ouvrier Kitchenbar storefront at 791 Dundas Street West (Toronto, Canada) between January 23 to February 14, 2014 (Valentine's Day!)

The (Bent) DOT stool not only references the past but also takes design cues from present-day icon, Apple (more specifically, the iPad). The (Bent) DOT stool's powdercoated steel seat allows for an upholstered leather seat cover, available in various colours, to magnetically snap perfectly in place. As a result, the consumer is able to change the appearance of the (Bent) DOT stool without replacing the entire stool altogether; resulting in a sustainable design that is adaptive to change in consumer tastes.

The (Bent) DOT stool is designed for commercial and residential applications, and will be available in standard (18”) and bar height (30”).

We're in the final stages of prototyping and will be looking for a manufacturer to help bring this to market.

In 1954, the iconic DOT stool was created as a result of the collaboration between Danish architect Arne Jacobsen and furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen. Sixty years later, the (Bent) DOT stool is a playful reinterpretation of this iconic piece.

Maintaining the clean aesthetic and original dimensions of the DOT stool, the (Bent) DOT stool incorporates the original circular seat profile but is 'bent' to form a modest backrest; in addition, a cutout handle is provided to allow for single-handed movement.

Stay tuned as we'll be providing more information on the (Bent) DOT stool in the coming days!

As we near the one-year anniversary of our launch, I thought I'd share with you some of the projects we're currently working on for Fall/Winter 2013 - an aircraft propeller-inspired ceiling fan, a playful reinterpretation of an Arne Jacobsen design classic, and home accessories that revolve around one of my personal favorite subject matters - food!

This fall will also mark our foray into architecture with a commission for a private residence in Calgary, Canada.
